Heroes

I have many heroes in my life...people who inspire me or shape my life in some way or help me want to be a better person. The Savior is obviously at the top of my list, but some others include my own mother for a myriad of reasons, my brother who serves our country in the army, Marjorie Pay Hinkley, President Monson... and my list goes on and on. It also changes sometimes with the seasons of my life.
One of my heroes is Paul Cardall. His optimistic and eager outlook on life and his unwavering testimony of Jesus Christ and the restored gospel, even throughout tremendous trials in his life, is awe inspiring. I often read his blog and I have been a huge fan of his piano music since March 9, 1996, which is the day Colby proposed to me in the Roof Restaurant on the top of the Joseph Smith Memorial building and Paul was the piano player at the grand piano in the restaraunt. My kids fall asleep to his Primary Worship CD every night, the melodies are so soothing and calming, who wouldn't want to drift to sleep with them playing in their ear? This past week, I had the opportunity to go to a Relief Society fireside where Paul was the speaker. Not only did he bare his powerful testimony through his piano music, but also the message he imparted to us. We all have a purpose in this life. We all have a certain time appointed to us and Heavenly Father is counting on us to make our time count, to serve his children who we are around, and to be a shining example of the love of Christ. Once again, like after his concert at Abravanel Hall this past February, I have been inspired to live and love deeper, to look for those opportunities to teach my children about the Savior and how to serve their fellow man. This message from Paul, coming on the heels of a very inspiring General Conference has really had an impact on my views of my day to day life as a mother and wife. There were so many messages in General Conference that it seems were directed right to me and my role as a mother. I know of the importance of my calling as a mother to my three little ones and I hope I can live up to my part in teaching and guiding them.
I am thankful for the many heroes in my life, that teach, guide and inspire me.

Sugarholics Anonymous

Hello....
My name is Tanya and I am a sugarholic.
It's time I made drastic changes to beat my addiction, so I am quitting cold turkey. I really see no other way to do it. I am completely cutting out the three c's (cookies, cakes, candy...and all the other treats that go with them....yes, even ice-cream...gasp!)
With the amount and intensity that I am excercising and training for this marathon, I need to treat my body better. No more trying to fuel it with hershey's kisses and chocolate chip cookies!
So....that means, the treats are completely out! (at least until the marathon is done....I can do anything for 4 weeks, right?)
Anyone want to join me? I could use all the support I can get! Thanks for the inspiration Toby!
Here's to feeling healthier and stronger! I'm sure I'll feel great! (after the massive mood swings, gigantic headaches, and intense cravings subside, of course!)
Chocolate?!! Who needs it!!! (sob!)

Easter?! It's Freezing!!

Yeah! Easter! Time for the annual Easter party with Colby's family. Good food, lots of kids to play with, the Easter bunny hides baskets for all the kids...Wait a minute...we're freezing to death...it's bitterly cold. This bunny had better hurry up before we all turn into icicles!

Here's the crew! Let's get these pictures over with and get in the warm car already!

At least we could go home and snuggle in some blankies on the couch and listen to conference for the rest of the weekend! Happy Easter everybody!

Happy April Fools!

April fools was kind of a silly day....just because of the spring weather! We dyed Easter eggs....

Then, we got on all our snow clothes and headed outside for an Easter snowball fight....tons of springtime fun!

Paradise!

Ahhh...paradise! Mexico was everything we dreamed of and more. Can we go back today....please?!
We stayed at a beautiful, all inclusive resort the Grand Riviera Princess. The grounds were gorgeous... Jet skiing and snorkeling was oh so fun! The fish were amazing bright blues and purples...we held star fish...the water was soooo warm and crystal clear...you could see right to the bottom. And look at the color!! Amazing!

Ahhh....our tranquil beach with soft white sand that felt like silk under our feet.
We went on an amazing tour of the Mayan ruins in Chichen Itza and Tulum. Our tour guide was Helaman, and we felt like we were being taught by Helaman from the Book of Mormon. We learned some amazing stuff!

Does this look like a picture right out of the Book of Mormon, or what?

Here's Helaman....he was awesome!

Yes...the water is actually that color! Beautiful!!

This is in Tulum.
Delicious food. Mmmm! I ate a little too much, but I couldn't pass it up.

Yummy fondue.

What a difficult life. We don't really have to go back to reality, do we?

Look at that sunrise. We had to get up pretty early to catch it, but it was so worth it!

We can't wait to go back sometime. Our only regret was we didn't stay long enough!
